March 22, 2005: Extension of Deadline for Abstract Submission
for ECEM13

ECEM13 covers all aspects of the oculomotor system and its relation to perceptual and cognitive processes, including applications and measuring techniques. The format of the conference consists of invited lectures, oral presentations, poster discussions and workshops . Manufacturers of eye movement recording and analysis equipment are invited to exhibit their products.

We had a very good response to our call for papers, receiving more than 200 abstracts within the regular submission period which ended March 15. In addition, several potential contributors asked for an extension of deadline. Therefore we decided to extend the deadline for paper and poster submissions to

April 8, 2005.

The Conference Web Site is www.ecem.ch. For submitting an abstract and registration, please use the electronic submission form on the Conference Web Site where also information about hotel accommodation can be found. Since there is a limited supply of hotel rooms particularly in the budget category, we advise early reservations.
The first authors of newly submitted abstracts will be informed about acceptance May 15. The deadline for a reduced early registration fee is May 31.

Hoping to hear from you and to see you in Bern at ECEM13,

Marina Groner

January 31, 2005: Second Announcement Of ECEM13

ECEM13 2nd Announcement and Call for Papers

The 13th European Conference on Eye Movements (ECEM13) will take place at the University of Bern, Switzerland, from August 14 18, 2005. ECEM13 covers all aspects of the oculomotor system and its relation to perceptual and cognitive processes, including applications and measuring techniques.

The website of the conference www.ecem.ch is now operational for abstract submission and registration. It also provides information about hotel reservation which should be done by the participants in direct contact with the hotels. Because there is a limited supply in the lower price segment, we encourage early hotel reservation.

The format of the conference consists of oral presentations and poster discussions in any area related to eye movements which will be grouped into thematic sessions, workshops of 4 6 participants, and invited lectures. Manufacturers of eye movement recording and analysing equipment and book publishers are invited to exhibit their products.

Abstracts for oral presentations and posters should be submitted before March 15. They will be peer reviewed by the scientific board, and the first authors will be informed about acceptance April 15. Deadline for early registration is 31 May with fees of 190 EUR for delegates and 140 EUR for students. After June 1, the regular fee of 260 (200 EUR for students) will be charged.

Invited speakers for ECEM13 are Alan Kennedy (University of Dundee), R. John Leigh (VA Medical Center Cleveland), Charles Pierrot-Deseilligny (Salpêtrière Hospital Paris), Urs P. Mosimann (Wolfson Research Centre Newcastle), Semir Zeki (University College London), Helmut T. Zwahlen (Ohio University).

The banquet dinner will take place on August 17 at the newly opened Paul Klee Center at a price of 90 EUR or 140 CHF, and it can be booked together with the registration on our website. September 27, 2004: First Announcement Of ECEM13

Dear Fellow Eye Movement Researchers

This is to give you advance notice that the 13th meeting of the European Conference on Eye Movements (ECEM13) will take place in Bern, Switzerland, from:

Sunday 14th to Thursday 18th August 2005.

The first ECEM has been held in Bern 1981 and established itself in the meantime through a series of 11 sequel conferences in seven different countries as the representative forum for the presentation of research on all aspects of eye movements. Celebrating its 24th anniversary, we will take great efforts to make it a memorable event, both in scientific and in social respects.

The venue is the University of Bern, Main Building. It is situated just above the train station and the historical centre (both of which can directly be reached via elevators or staircases)

The Conference Web Site (www.ecem.ch) will be opened soon. It will become fully functional later this autumn, at which point we shall be soliciting Abstracts. In the meantime, if you have ideas you would like to feed into the scientific planning process (in particular, your thoughts on topics you believe to be emphasized in future meetings) or if you would be willing to organize a workshop on a particular theme, please contact either René Mueri (who covers the area of neuroscience and clinical aspects), Marina Groner (responsible for visual psychophysics and ergonomic applications), or Rudolf Groner (covering attention, reading, and cognitive aspects) :
rudolf.groner@psy.unibe.ch

marina.groner@psy.unibe.ch

Please make a note of the date in your diary: 14-18 August, 2005.
